SEEING YOUR LIFE THE LENS OF THE GOSPELS
I. The question put to Jesus is one that many still ask: 'Will many be saved?' In his answer Jesus is not concerned but warns his listeners about complacency. Just as his listeners could not regard the mere fact of being Jews as sufficient for salvation, neither can we regard the mere fact of being Christian as enough.
That entitlement will come from our acceptance of Jesus. For any relationship to be alive—either with God or with another human person—the real question is 'is my heart in this relationship? What does your experience tell you of this?
2. 'Strive to enter by the narrow door.' Jesus himself is on his journey to Jerusalem, purposeful and determined. True followers of him will also be purposeful and determined.
That is true in any journey, career, or relationship if there is to be growth or progress. What it is like for you when you fail to do this? What is it like for you when the effort is there? John Byrne OSA
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
Q. 1 am sometimes addicted to pornography on the internet. Afterwards I feel really ashamed. But I fall again and again. Any advice?
A. Yes, it is a form of addiction. As with any addiction it takes away freedom. The first step in rehabilitation is the humble admission of having lost your freedom in dealing with the problem. Then you must sincerely ask for God's help, not just once, but every time you open your Internet For somebody addicted to alcohol, what is important is not to take the first drink. For you, the important step is not to switch on the site where you lose your freedom and dignity. Fr Silvester 0 'Flynn

TODAY'S MASS.
We gather to celebrate the Eucharist as a community of God's people we pray that we may recognise the Lord in the Scriptures and the breaking of the bread. Living a life of grace requires sacrifice and discipline. Jesus recognises this challenge in today's Gospel as he urges his hearers to 'enter through the narrow door'. The ways of the kingdom of God are often not the ways of the world. Those in this life who are perceived as blessed are presented here in the Gospel as those who will be standing outside the narrow door, asking for recognition and admission.
